I am however looking forward to "HAILEY'S IRISH HERITAGE WEEK” or (IHW) as we so fondly call it in the PUB. When mid-Febraury rolls around, we know soon so will the "IHW." To those who do not know what the IHW is, let me explain. Once the holidays are over and cabin fever starts setting in, we start thinking about St. Patrick’s Day. The winters are long and cold, so I try to entertain myself and the pub customers any way possible, yup, so we came up with St. Practice Day. Yes, St. Practice Day brings us all together on Friday, 2/17. We start at 6pm with the Irishness of Matt Gibbons on acoustic guitar. Intermingled with Matt’s amazing vocal talents will be traditional Irish Dancers and then during the later part of the festivities, The Middlesex County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums dressed in their full regalia will surely entertain.
Most revelers only come out usually on the actual "high holy day" itself, St. Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17th, but being the dedicated Irish pub and customers we are, we celebrate the whole week, hence the term the "Irish Heritage Week." Starting Sunday, March 12 thru Saturday, March 18th, we have a plethora of daily events, including:
Sunday (3/12) from 11am to 3pm - Irish Brunch Sunday, Ken Trotta, Irish Dancers
Monday (3/13) starting at 6pm - Matt Gibbons - Irish Mondays
Tuesday (3/14) starting at (???) - Irish Dancers and Middlesex County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums at 8pm
Wednesday (3/15) starting at 7pm - Chris Finnegan - Irish Wednesdays
Thursday (3/16) starting at 7pm - the musical mayhem of Mark Rostek, Irish Toast at Midnight
Friday (3/17) we open at 11am, entertainment starts at 11am - the culmination of Irish Heritage Week, St. Patrick's Day with more Irish music (Mark Mayer at 11am, Shanon Rovers at 1pm, The Neighbors at 6pm, Chris Finnegan at 9pm), Pipes and Drums and Irish Dancers, Photo Booth; craic for all.
So as I said, we have been planning for six weeks, we are just hoping the snow and sleet hold off and that St. Patrick himself blesses us with a sunny day!
